Learn from a Berklee College of Music trained teacher! I have taught for over fifteen years at different studios in the Boston area, and recently relocated to Portland, Oregon. I have played in a number of different rock, jazz, and blues groups over the years, and can help you out with learning chords, scales, soloing or songs.
Below is a more formal bio:
Lance has played in groups ranging from rock bands to musical theater pit orchestras. His musical heroes include Led Zeppelin, Stevie Ray Vaughan, The Beatles, Phish and The Meters. Originally from Long Island, New York, Lance first began learning guitar at age 15.
He moved from New York to Massachusetts in 1995 to attend Berklee College of Music, and later that year joined the band Banter, a group whose sound combined '90s alterna-rock angst with classic rock harmonies. After leaving this group, he pursued a variety of different projects, including a short stint in the show band on board a Carnival Cruise Lines ship. Eventually he became more serious about learning jazz guitar, and decided he wanted to solve the mystery of learning how to solo over jazz tunes.
His studies led him to many late night jam sessions, and occasionally a commute to New York City after work on Fridays to spend a weekend developing his chops at the clubs in the Big Apple. His devotion paid off, as he landed a gig playing with notable Boston jazz musician Sonny Watson. While he loved playing jazz, he felt that it was time to try something different. He joined the band Savin ill, a hip-hop group that fuses funk, soul and rock using live instruments, creating it's own unique style.
Lance has also played with pop-rock singer/songwriter Max G. He has taught at several studios and schools in the Greater Boston area, including Robinson Music in Westborough and The Music Emporium in Lexington. He has taught students ranging in age from six years to adult a variety of different styles, including rock, blues, and jazz.
