Canadian University Preparation Grade 12 English
This course follows the Ontario curriculum for English 4 University and other provinces curriculum requirements. Students who need tutorial assistance with grade 12 English or need to improve their skills before entering university will find this class very useful. Grade 11 students who want to prepare for English 12 University will benefit from this class.
The genres include : Short stories, drama, non fiction, poetry and media (Viewpoints 12, Pearson/Prentice Hall)
Students will receive reading for each class with to questions for class discussion and written submissions for evaluation. Discussions will focus on critical reading and analysis, literary style of the authors, literary devices, characterization and background.

Short stories , Magpies, Tom King, Mazes, Ursula Le Guin, Write Me Sometime, Taein Ng Chang
Drama, Hamlet, William Shakespeare, A Marriage Proposal, Anton Chekhov
Non fiction: Afternoon of an American Boy, E.B.White, A Place to Stand On, Margaret Laurence, My Mother`s Blue Bowl, Alice Walker
Media: Aphorisms, Marshall McLuhan, Canada a Virtual History, Ray Conlouge, Morty Mania, Judy Waytiuk
Poetry: Birch Bark, Michael Ondaatje, Fern Hill, Dylan Thomas Canterbury Tales, Geoffrey Chaucer
Class Format: Students read assigned reading (sent by email) after booking lesson 1 through 14. Written assignments should be submitted prior to lesson. Teacher will critique and discuss readings and students written submissions. Students will receive an evaluation of written work and discussion.
Lessons 1 to 14 1 hour length with a reading a preparation time of 1.5 hours
